It’s no secret in my circle of friends/family that I love exercising my creative mind…my body is another story though. Not only do I create imagery with my camera but I also love to sew and see myself one day making fantastic quilts for my grandchildren however, photography is my creative outlet of choice as I get very little time where I am able to have sharp pins and scissors lying about. Over the past few years I have been testing my skill set by creating what I classify as fine art images with a surreal or whimsical feel. If you scope out my 500px or Facebook pages you will find a thing or two that I have done.
Creating images of my kids in this fashion has led me to want to do more of this type of thing in my client work. I hope to launch in the next year the option to hire me to create whimsical imagery of your children cosplay style. I see these portraits blown up big to be hung in their rooms for as long as they dream of being a fairy princess, robot, super hero, dinosaur hunter or the likes. Recently, I put a casting call out and had a wonderful response and what started as one concept lead to another. Here is the result of one of the images I created from that session in a before and after style.
Photoshop is my tool of choice for any and all photo manipulation and, although I was taught the basics in college, I have been working towards and developing my skills for over 5 years and feel like I am at a place where I can share my knowledge and skills with anyone who wants to learn and grow using this software. So if you’re looking to enhance your images and find your style don’t hesitate to reach out and inquire about one on one mentoring.
In the images below you will see that although the location is gorgeous I wanted to add more of a winter feel to the image and even added in some fun winter sparkle to add to this winter princesses story. With ever stage and layer I seen this image come to life a little more and although I feel like this may not be the finished result, I still want to share with you all to give you an idea of what we can accomplish to create wonderful portraits for you much adored little ones.
The image below is straight out of camera:
With a little winter kiss to add to the story
And with a little bit more magic the final concept comes to life:
