I reflect, pretty much on a daily basis, about how lucky I am to be creating memories for families, friends and myself. I try my hardest not to take for granted how truly special these images I am making are to those who hold them (print your images!!!) and who will look back on them fondly with smiles. My job puts me in touch with many amazing people and has allowed me to connect and reconnect with those whom, if not for wanting amazing family portraits, may not have reached out to me. It’s in these situations I find old friends anew and is how Mandy and I reconnected. The beautiful bride in the images below and I went to grade school together, then high school (until I changed locations). I remember her a kind hearted person, a competitor with the most amazing team sprit who was there to uplift you or razz you depending on what you needed…she still is 🙂
She is also my bunny mommy who without, my Easter images wouldn’t be possible!
So when she asked me to photograph her and Bert’s wedding I was overjoyed at the idea. They are an amazing couple, the kind of people you love to be around. They have that relationship where you know they are a team, working together and winning!
Not to go overboard with the “sportsmanship” puns. But they are also Dodgeball fanatics so it’s appropriate 😉
Bert and Mandy met in 2004 while Mandy was helping Jody, a friend and co-worker and Bert’s brother Clint move in together. Bert and Mandy ended up driving in the truck together but words were on short hand that day. Mandy became a regular at Jody and Clint’s spending Thursday nights making good eats and watch the games and Bert started to come by too. I wasn’t surprised to learn that she was the one who suggested they go out together on a date. She gave him her number and it wasn’t long before they realized how much they clicked. Mandy recounts the time when Bert came to her place after work with shortened hockey sticks for her two oldest boys as being one of the sweetest things anyone had ever done for them at that time. They clicked too and the rest is history.
Mandy and Bert have a wonderful family of four and I can’t say enough about how great their kids are. You can tell, that much like their parents, they will be the kind of friends anyone is lucky to have in their lives.
So here’s a recount of the day in images. Mandy and Bert put so many sweet little DIY touches on their outdoor wedding. Everywhere you looked you saw a piece of who they are and the gratitude they have for their friends and family. I was not truly prepared for such a fun and casual post wedding party, but that was the point…just relax and have fun. From your choice of playing this awesome game called slam cans, bean bag toss, or washers to hanging out eating from Poor Bhoy’s amazing food truck the day couldn’t have been more easygoing, fun and perfectly them.
Thank you for for including me in your day guys!
